Chris Garfield Obituary: In loving memory of Forest Grove man killed in Sunday afternoon crash in Washington County.
The Oregon State Police responded to a vehicle vs motorbike collision on Highway 47, close to milepost 22.5, in Washington County, on Sunday, October 8, 2023, at about 12:14 p.m.
According to the preliminary investigation, the Toyota C-HR, driven by Beaverton resident Emily Simora (70), was parked on Springhill Rd. facing westbound when it turned onto Hwy-47 southbound. A side impact crash occurred when Chris William Garfield, 44, of Forest Grove, was riding a northbound BMW motorcycle when the Toyota entered his path.
At the scene, Garfield, the motorcycle’s driver, was pronounced dead. A young female passenger was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment.
The driver of the Toyota, Simora did not sustain any wounds.
The highway was impacted for approximately 3 hours during the on-scene investigation.
Gaston Fire Department, Washington County SO, Forest Grove PD, and ODOT provided assistance to OSP.
